Breakfast at the Hotel, Our Journey start, Underground City, Red Valley, Cavusin, Ortahisar, Pigeon Valley. Begin your journey by departing from your hotel to explore Red Valley via Cavusin, where you will have the opportunity to discover renowned rock-cut churches and embark on a 2 km hike. Following this, visit the village of Cavusin. The historic Old Cavusin was deserted several decades ago due to avalanches, while the current village is situated along the main road. Old Cavusin, characterized by its rock-cut homes and stone structures, once housed numerous hermitages. After enjoying lunch, proceed to Pigeon Valley. In the afternoon, visit the Underground City, a refuge for early Christians who lived in both fear and faith. The village’s houses are built around nearly one hundred tunnels of this fascinating underground settlement, which is among the most intriguing in Cappadocia. Originally carved into eight levels, only four are accessible to visitors. During times of conflict, this underground city could shelter approximately 5,000 individuals. The tunnels continue to serve practical purposes today, functioning as storage spaces, stables, and cellars.
