As quite possibly of Europe’s most established city, situated at the intersection of the East and West, the capital of Serbia is a staggeringly rich mosaic of various societies, impacts and styles with a baffling and extraordinary climate. Zlatibor

Departing from Belgrade in the morning, we will traverse the stunning hills of central Serbia, specifically the Šumadija region, en route to Topola. This quaint town, steeped in history, narrates the story of the Karadjordjevic royal family, which traces its origins to this area. It is notable as the birthplace of Karadjordje Petrovic, the leader of the First Serbian Uprising and the founder of the Karadjordjevic dynasty. The Church, famous for its magnificent mosaics, along with its crypt, showcases the finest examples of fresco painting in Serbia. The residence of Petar Karadjordjevic, located directly across from the Church and built in 1912, served as the King’s summer residence. This region is also renowned for its prestigious wine production. Guests will have the opportunity to visit a celebrated winery, enjoy a hearty traditional lunch, and partake in a tasting of five varieties of wine, all while taking in the breathtaking views of the Oplenac vineyards. The evening will be spent in Zlatibor.

Day 04 :
Belgrade

Drvengrad, located on Mećavnik in Mokra Gora, is a unique creation of Emir Kusturica, who has been developing this site for a decade. The settlement comprises ancient log cabins in the ‘Dinaric style’ sourced from Mt. Tara, which have been minimally adapted to meet contemporary needs. This blend of historical and modern elements forms a ‘settlement of artistic and creative provenance,’ from which Emir has produced three live-action feature films, two feature-length documentaries, and two festivals—‘Kustendorf’ and ‘Bolshoi’—whose legacies are now firmly established. Additionally, he has authored two books and contributed to various musical works, as well as the town of Andrićgrad. Following this, we will embark on the scenic Sargan 8 Train Ride, a historic railway that once connected Europe to the Adriatic Sea. Operating from 1925 to 1974, this narrow-gauge railway, measuring 760 mm, transported passengers from Belgrade to Dubrovnik and Zelenika, traversing tunnels and bridges, with the iconic train “Cira” leaving behind the distinct aroma of steam. A segment of this railway, from Šargan Vitasi Station to Mokra Gora, has been restored, allowing the renowned Šargan “eighth” to once again echo with the sounds of clattering carriages and lively conversations aboard the train “Nostalgia.” During the journey from Mokra Gora to Šargan Vitasi Station, passengers will pass through 22 tunnels and over five bridges, all while enjoying the breathtaking natural beauty of the region from various viewpoints. Our final destination is Stopica Cave, located on the northeastern slope of Zlatibor Mountain. This river cave features the Trnavski stream flowing through it and consists of three distinct speleological and hydrological levels. Excluding its youngest system, Stopica Cave extends 1,691.5 meters in length and encompasses an area of 7,911.5 square meters. We will conclude our day with an overnight stay in Belgrade.
