In the bustling commercial district, cutting-edge buildings, luxurious hotels, trendy restaurants, art galleries, and boutiques stand alongside traditional coffee shops and quaint artisan workshops. The city’s neighborhoods are rich in diversity, offering a range of cultural and historical experiences, from the lively downtown markets to the artistic spaces of Jabal Lweibdeh and the modern retail hub of Abdali. You will have dinner and spend the night in Amman.
Overnight in Amman
After enjoying breakfast, visit the city of Madaba, celebrated for its iconic 6th-century Mosaic map depicting Jerusalem and the Holy Land, along with its exquisite Byzantine and Umayyad mosaics, including a visit to St. George’s Church. Continue to Mount Nebo, a significant biblical location where Moses was allowed to view the Promised Land, which he would never enter. Situated just off the King’s Highway, 190 kilometers south of Amman and less than an hour’s drive north of Petra, an impressive castle stands as a solitary testament to the former glory of the Crusaders, dating back to the same turbulent period as Kerak. Known today as Shobak, this fortress was called Mont Real (Crak de Montreal) or Mons Regalis by the Crusaders. It was established in 1115 by King Baldwin I of Jerusalem to safeguard the route from Damascus to Egypt and marked the beginning of a series of similar strongholds in the Latin Kingdom of Jerusalem. Dinner and an overnight stay will take place in Petra.
Overnight stay in Petra
After enjoying breakfast, proceed to the Nabatean city of Petra, celebrated as one of the Seven Wonders of the World and recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage site. Access the city through a narrow gorge that stretches for 1 kilometer, flanked by impressive cliffs that soar to 80 meters on both sides. Take note of the vibrant colors and unique formations of the rocks. This vast site is home to hundreds of intricately designed rock-cut tombs, a treasury, theaters in the Roman style, temples, sacrificial altars, and colonnaded streets. Conclude your day with dinner and an overnight stay in Petra.
Overnight stay in Petra
After enjoying breakfast, we continue our journey southward in Jordan to visit other important sites, with Wadi Rum being a highlight. Discover Wadi Rum on a two-hour jeep ride through the stunning Jordanian desert. T.E. Lawrence eloquently described Wadi Rum as “Vast, echoing and god-like,” and it is affectionately known by locals as the “Valley of the Moon.” We will return to our hotel in Amman for dinner and an overnight stay.
